10 Things to Buy Before AA Goes Out of Business

Emergency Post!! Okay so I just found out that our beloved American Apparel is closing down due to apparent bankruptcy! What the heck! This store’s price point was much too high for a struggling college student budget but I somehow managed to pull my coins together for the perfect club attire…you remember the cotton halter top bodysuit with the v-neck and cut out back? Every college girls favorite (most anyway). The best part of shopping at AA is the versatility of their items. So this post is dedicated to American Apparel, the basics Mecca. I have selected 10 of my favorite items that you may want to purchase before the deed is done. The store is offering 40% off of everything site-wide and in-store.

I stated in a previous blog post that I would try to get back to my natural hair ways in 2017 so here it is…my little fro fro. It honestly tears me up inside when I look back at old pictures of my poppin fro 😦 anyway, I committed to less heat this year so after my birthday I’ll be puff balls and twist outs for the next few months.

Also, I have talked a lot about my love/hate relationship with Zara because their clothes are always so trendy and cute but the quality is pretty horrific. So I’ve decided that I will only shop at Zara during their twice yearly sale. This top was $50 when I first had my eye on it around October, 3 months later I scored this top for $15.99! And this is the stuff I’m talking about!! Sooooo many pieces that I purchased in the last few months were on SUPER SALE. I’m talking 79.90 marked down to 19.99. I was highly irritated to say the least. As a result, I am making a declaration to only purchase at Zara during their sales because I just cannot. Spending $80 on a pair of pants that rip two weeks later is just not in the cards for me…19.99 I think I can do.

*The Zara items I am wearing here are sold out online but you can check your local store if you are interested*

SN: I really have to get back into the gym as the little bit of curves I had are disappearing into fluff. Peace!

All Black at the White Shows

Happy New Year! I brought in the New Year exactly how I wanted, surrounded by family praising our Lord for all he has done. I was honestly a little upset that I was mandated to wear black because although I was in church, I still had my sequins skirt ready for the New Year’s Eve service! Nonetheless, we had to wear black so I reached alllllll the way back into my closet and found my old college faithful AA disco pants. They are black spandex material pants that have a disco ball sheen to them. The pants gave me the quintessential New Year’s celebration vibe but still within the “dress code.” I paired the pants with a simple black turtleneck and got a little fancy with these gorgeous JCrew earrings I was gifted for Christmas and my blue velvet booties. I knew I was wrong for wearing blue shoes but I needed something extra! May this New Year be filled with love, prosperity, and an overflow of blessings, cheers!

Sporty Spice

Being sporty spice at the National Harbor for happy hour with my girls proved to be one of the highlights on my Christmas Break thus far. We exchanged Christmas gifts and enjoyed Mccormick and Schmitt’s Happy Hour specials, cosmopolitans anyone? I also payed $8 for a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream cone *side eye* but the experience was well worth it.

I kept it comfy casual with a basic white tee and my new favorite Spanx leggings that give me a little extra tuck for my holiday food generated bulges.

Let’s take a moment to bask in the beauty of these suede navy Adidas…….ok these shoes are everything. They are comforatble and super versatile. I was gifted these kicks in this navy color, burgundy as well as an olive green. I have not seen these shoes anywhere in mens or women’s sizes so I have no idea how they were purchased for me. Shoutout to my plug lol. Threw on an Adidas bomber to finish off the look. I wasn’t sure if my friends would be dressy so I brought along my velvet steve madden booties to up the amp just in case. Turned out needing the booties lol

Merry Christmas

Dress: JLUXLABLE| Shoes: Steve Madden

Merry Christmas!! So excited to be starting new traditions this holiday season with my family. One including an annual formal dinner on Christmas Eve. For our first annual Christmas Eve dinner we gathered at my grandparents suburban residence. On the menu: Root Vegetable Gratin, Maple Roasted Carrot Salad, Skillet-Roasted Lemon Chicken, and Apple Pie Bars 😋 The decor matched the food, simply fabulous. For the special occasion we were instructed to come dressed in formal attire so I sprung for this JLuxLable Dress that I found for $29 over the summer. JLuxLable is an Instagram boutique that typically has inexpensive party attire. Check them out here.

Happy Holidays

Taking a serious risk and mixing stripes with leopard print and I love it! I had my eye on this JCrew dress since the summer and scored it on Black Friday on sale with an extra 40% off! Glad I waited…I can pair this dress with a shirt underneath for colder months and just wear it sleeveless in warmer weather. I’ve been loving Nars Cruella as my go to red lip but I came across my old faithful, Ruby Woo just in time for the holidays.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to blog in these colder months so bare with me! I froze my tootsies off for these optics 😉

Nordstrom Holiday Party

I was so excited to go to the annual Nordstrom Holiday Party, it’s pretty much an exclusive event to those who are Nordstrom card holders where you are able to Christmas shop with the help of a stylist. Hors d’oeuvres, champagne, and coffee are provided as you browse through their holiday collections.  As a rewards member you earn 10 points for each dollar you spend. 2000 points=$20 of Nordstrom Cash. So basically, every $200 you spend you get $20 back and as we all know $200 in Nordstrom is easily spent. The beauty of the “Nordstrom Bank” is that you do not have to have a credit line to reap the rewards benefits. You can sign up for a Nordstrom debit card that is connected to your personal checking account. You still earn points per dollar you spend in store and online but it comes directly from your account! Yes to debt freedom! If you are interested in a Nordstrom debit card more info here…because they literally have EVERYTHING. Anyone who knows me knows that I am definitely a Nordy’s girl. Hands down favorite store and not just because they always have what I’m looking for but also because they have outstanding customer service. Can you STAN for a store? I definitely do.

So about the outfit…very simple staple black denim and white button down top. Jazzed up the look with this statement green jacket much like my statement suede jacket here. I’m really feeling the Chanel inspired footwear that added something extra to the look along with my YSL fringe bag that I’ve been carrying religiously. Voila!

Thanksgiving weekend was definitely good to me. Thursday was different but I made it through! Friday and Saturday I spent in Philadelphia with my family taking advantage of tax free clothing and Black Friday Weekend super sales. I found a few items that I’ll be sharing soon! This faux leather dress I purchased about a week ago and I was so sick that it was 30% off on Friday. Anyway, the dress is gorge and probably one of my better Zara finds. I wish my boots were grey but these black old faithfuls worked well for me today.

Happy Thanksgiving!! I am thankful for my family and God’s provision over my life, Blessed! I’m hoping that you are all spending this time surrounded by family and friends. Here’s a quick look at my #OOTD. I’m super excited for Black Friday shopping #staytuned for my finds. I’ve heard Zara is having 30% off starting at 8pm but remember to be selective! Peace and Blessings
