Pink Foil Pleats

This skirt makes me feel so feminine and is the focal point of this look. The flowy pleating along with the pink foil color scream romance for me. Another versatile piece that can be styled with pumps or Adidas. I chose to wear these Dior inspired slingback heels I found after days of searching for my size! Kitten heels are often a fashion faux pas but these beauties get a pass.  I would suggest looking into Zara’s fall shoe collection because they have some bangers this year.

I intended on taking photos of this look at my local sunflower field, however, by the time I finally had a minute to go, they were all picked…nonetheless, enjoy the look

The Midi Skirt

Shoe:Occasion Ratio

There’s so much to be said about the perfect midi skirt. The versatility is matchless as a different shoe can change the trajectory of your look. My current favorites to pair with my midi skirts consist of a closed toe pump for work, an open toe sandal for date night/evening, slides for brunch, and tennis for Saturday errands.

Designer vs Standard

Through my shopping conquests both in store and online I have noticed the difference in midi skirt length given price point, designer, etc. I prefer a midi skirt that hits right below the knee to the shin area and it seems that only designer or higher priced skirts fit that description. A standard  (non designer) midi at best will come directly below the knee. Am I the only one who’s noticed this? For example, here is a standard JCrew midi skirt…notice length

Skirt: JCrew

…now observe this midi skirt from JCrew Collection, a higher end designer-like sector of the brand…

Skirt: JCrew

Do you see my plight!? I don’t know why this is but it seems that the standard midi skirts I purchase rarely come in the correct “midi” length (that perfect below knee to shin range)

Current Selections

As frustrating as this can be fortunately this seasons fashion has taken a slight shift. I have discovered several purse-friendly “perfect length” midis that I wanted to share!

Nordstrom: Chelsea28

Zara

JCrew

ASOS

And finally, the perfect designer midis that are currently out of my price range but won’t be for long 😏 Gucci everything

NOTICE THE LENGTHS! I’m just sayin…lol

How are you styling your midi skirts this season? Let me know in the comments!

By now you all should understand my love for denim on denim, also known as the “Canadian Tuxedo.” I’ve really been feeling this trend lately because it’s such an easy way to look incredibly put together whilst being incredibly comfortable. How do you feel about the trend? Let me know in the comments and post your favorite denim look with the hashtag #expertamateur

Shout out to these iPhone 7 Plus photographs! Better than my Cannon quality 🙄. And shoutout to my photographer 😏

I know it has been a while but this Baltimore weather has me so confused. I don’t know whether to wear flowy printed spring tops or to keep out my suede thigh highs…so I did both. As you (should) know I am trying to go a few months without putting heat on my air hence the 70s puff balls. The Gucci belt has been on my wish list for months so I decided to treat myself for my birthday. The hair and belt tie this look together perfectly!

Shout out to today’s photographer and creative director #inspire

Pinstripes and Patent Leather

I stated in a previous blog post that I would try to get back to my natural hair ways in 2017 so here it is…my little fro fro. It honestly tears me up inside when I look back at old pictures of my poppin fro 😦 anyway, I committed to less heat this year so after my birthday I’ll be puff balls and twist outs for the next few months.

Also, I have talked a lot about my love/hate relationship with Zara because their clothes are always so trendy and cute but the quality is pretty horrific. So I’ve decided that I will only shop at Zara during their twice yearly sale. This top was $50 when I first had my eye on it around October, 3 months later I scored this top for $15.99! And this is the stuff I’m talking about!! Sooooo many pieces that I purchased in the last few months were on SUPER SALE. I’m talking 79.90 marked down to 19.99. I was highly irritated to say the least. As a result, I am making a declaration to only purchase at Zara during their sales because I just cannot. Spending $80 on a pair of pants that rip two weeks later is just not in the cards for me…19.99 I think I can do.

*The Zara items I am wearing here are sold out online but you can check your local store if you are interested*

SN: I really have to get back into the gym as the little bit of curves I had are disappearing into fluff. Peace!

Thanksgiving weekend was definitely good to me. Thursday was different but I made it through! Friday and Saturday I spent in Philadelphia with my family taking advantage of tax free clothing and Black Friday Weekend super sales. I found a few items that I’ll be sharing soon! This faux leather dress I purchased about a week ago and I was so sick that it was 30% off on Friday. Anyway, the dress is gorge and probably one of my better Zara finds. I wish my boots were grey but these black old faithfuls worked well for me today.

The Perfect Little Black Dress

So by now I’m sure you all can tell that I am a frequent Zara shopper. Definitely guaranteed to be on trend if you shop there but BEWARE. Zara’s clothing is certainly cute but you really have to be selective about the pieces you purchase. Their price point tends to be higher than the H&M’s and Forever21’s but the quality is pretty much the same if not worse than the aforementioned stores. This dress happened to be $39.90 which I think is a decent price for the wear that I’ll get out of it. It’s another versatile piece that I can dress up or throw on some cute sneakers and cross body bag to dress down. The midi length of this dress is perfect and flatters my shape (or lack thereof LOL) and height. Sooo cute.

I also would like to take this time to shout out all of my creative directors and photographers…you know who you are!

Choir Attire

If you grew up in church like I did, you know why I call this “Choir Attire.” Ole faithful black and white is a go to combo for choirs everywhere because everyone owns a black bottom and a white top, right? Well whether you’re singing on the choir or not, a classic white shirt and black skirt are closet must haves. I like this particular top because the zipper gives modern edge to a classic look. I opted for this faux leather black skirt because well, leather is always on trend. There’s so much you can do with these versatile pieces! Also, don’t judge me but I just HAD to throw back on my statement suede jacket.

*If you’re thinking your skirt is too short, follow the fingertip rule*
